SKE Crystal Bar wholesale: what replaced the disposable

For years, plenty of UK vapers asked for the Crystal Bar by name. When single-use vapes were banned in England on 1 June 2025, the disposable Crystal Bar had to come off the shelf. This page is for retailers whose customers still ask for it: these are the SKE Crystal Bar style devices that are now rechargeable, using prefilled pods instead.

The flavours and feel are familiar, but the customer keeps the battery and swaps the pod. For a size-by-size view of every model, see our SKE Crystal vape kits page.

The SKE Bar line

The SKE Bar 6K and SKE Bar 15k kits carry the Bar name forward with larger prefilled pods. Puff figures are manufacturer's.

Matching old Crystal Bar habits to a new kit

When a customer asks for “a Crystal Bar”, a couple of questions about how much they vaped will point you to the right kit:

Once a customer has the battery, pods become the regular purchase, which tends to bring them back to the shop that sold them the kit.

The single-use ban, explained for Crystal Bar sellers

The ban removed disposable Crystal Bars from sale, but not the brand. GOV.UK sets out what makes a vape reusable and what you're expected to do:

  • Rechargeable battery

The device must recharge; a sealed one-use battery doesn't qualify.

  • Refillable or replaceable pod

Inserting a new prefilled pod counts, and the coil can sit inside that pod.

  • Refills on sale

Replacement pods should be separately available, and you may be asked to show this at inspection.

  • Old stock and take-back

Single-use devices can't be sold. Retailers must also offer take-back of waste electricals, in store or through the Distributor Take-back Scheme.

Duty of £2.20 per 10ml (44p per 2ml pod) applies from 1 October 2026, and all vapes are 18+ from 29 October 2026. Our retailer compliance guide and vape tax guide go into more detail.

Talking customers through the switch

Simple ways to turn a “where are the Crystal Bars?” question into a sale:

  • Lead with the flavour. Customers care most that their usual flavour is still there; start the conversation with that.
  • Explain the pod once. Show how the pod clicks out and in. Most people only need to see it once.
  • Sell a spare pod. Adding a pod with the first kit means the customer isn't caught short.
  • Offer a take-back point. A box for used devices helps you meet your take-back duty and gives customers a reason to return.

Frequently asked questions

Can I still sell Crystal Bars?

Not the single-use versions. Disposable vapes have been banned in England since 1 June 2025. You can sell rechargeable SKE kits that take prefilled pods, such as the Crystal Pro 600 and SKE Bar range, because they meet the government's definition of a reusable vape.

What is the closest kit to the old Crystal Bar 600?

The SKE Crystal Pro 600 Prefilled Vape Pod Kit carries the 600 name and is sold in packs of 5, with Crystal Pro 600 Replacement Pods in packs of 10. Check each listing for flavours and compatibility before ordering.

Why do the kits here match the SKE Crystal vape kits page?

Both pages show SKE's rechargeable kits. This page is for retailers and customers searching for the Crystal Bar name, and explains how to move them on to a kit. The SKE Crystal vape kits page compares every model by size.

Do I have to take back used vapes?

Vapes are electrical products, so retailers must offer take-back of waste electricals, either in store or by joining the Distributor Take-back Scheme. Shops selling more than 32kg of portable batteries a year must also take back waste batteries free of charge.

Is duty charged on Crystal Bar pods?

Yes. From 1 October 2026 Vaping Products Duty is £2.20 per 10ml of liquid, so a 2ml prefilled pod carries 44p. Stock released from that date needs a duty stamp; unstamped older stock can be sold until 31 March 2027.

Can nicotine-free Crystal Bar style kits be sold to under-18s?

No. From 29 October 2026 the Tobacco and Vapes Act makes 18 the minimum age of sale for all vaping products, with or without nicotine. Trading Standards can issue £200 fixed penalty notices, so age checks should be routine.
