Vape batteries wholesale: 18650, 20700 and 21700 cells

This collection holds rechargeable vape batteries: removable cells for box mods, plus an eGo-style battery for pen kits. Most 18650 lines come in pairs, as many mods take two cells, and capacity and amp rating are shown in each title.

Spare cells are a repeat purchase. They lose capacity with use, and customers with a dual-cell mod often want a second set to swap in while the first pair charges.

Reading a battery title

Three figures in each title tell you most of what you need to know when matching a cell to a customer's mod.

  • Size

18650, 20700 and 21700 describe the cell's diameter and length. A mod only takes the size it was designed for.

  • Capacity (mAh)

Higher mAh means longer between charges. Within the same size, there's usually a trade-off with amp rating.

  • Amp rating (A)

The continuous current a cell is rated for. Higher-wattage mods need cells with a suitable rating.

  • Pairs

Dual-cell mods need two matching cells of the same make, age and charge level.

If a customer isn't sure which cell they need, ask for the mod name and check its listing or manual. Selling the right cell first time avoids returns and keeps the customer safe. A matching battery charger is the natural add-on.

Battery safety and take-back

Lithium-ion cells are safe when handled properly, but they need care. These are the points to pass on, and the rules that apply to your shop:

  • Never carry loose

Loose cells in a pocket with keys or coins can short-circuit. Sell or recommend a plastic battery case.

  • Check the wrap

A torn or damaged outer wrap exposes the cell. Customers should stop using it and replace it.

  • Use a proper charger

External chargers designed for these cells are the safer way to charge spares.

  • 32kg take-back rule

Shops selling more than 32kg of portable batteries a year must take back waste batteries free of charge.

Mains battery chargers need a UKCA or CE mark and maker details, and WEEE take-back applies to them. Duty is charged on vaping liquid, not on batteries. Our retailer compliance guide covers the wider vape rules.

Buying vape batteries in bulk

A few things to check before you order cells:

  • Stock the sizes your mods use. Look at your box mod range first, then order cells to match.
  • Favour pairs for dual-cell mods. Two-packs make it easy to sell matched cells together.
  • Store them cool and dry. Keep stock away from heat and direct sunlight, and in its original packaging.
  • Add a charger. Cells sell with chargers, and both count towards free delivery over £150.

Frequently asked questions

Which battery does my customer's mod need?

Check the mod's listing or manual for the cell size and number of cells. Many box mods take one or two 18650s, while some use 20700 or 21700 cells and others have a built-in battery. Match the size first, then choose a suitable amp rating.

Why are most cells sold in pairs?

Many box mods take two cells, and those cells should be the same make, capacity and age so they charge and discharge evenly. Selling them in pairs makes it simple for customers to buy a matched set and replace both at the same time.

What does the amp rating mean?

The amp rating is the continuous current a cell is designed to deliver. High-wattage vaping draws more current, so the cell's rating needs to suit the mod and coil. Customers unsure what they need should follow the mod maker's guidance.

How should customers carry spare batteries?

Never loose in a pocket or bag, where keys or coins can touch both ends and cause a short circuit. A plastic battery case is cheap and keeps cells separated. Damaged wraps should be replaced before the cell is used again.

Do I need to take back old batteries?

Shops that sell more than 32kg of portable batteries a year must take back waste batteries free of charge, whether or not the customer buys a replacement. Smaller sellers can still point customers to local recycling points. GOV.UK has full guidance for retailers.

Is vaping duty charged on batteries?

No. Vaping Products Duty applies to vaping liquid at £2.20 per 10ml from 1 October 2026. Batteries, chargers, mods and other hardware don't carry the duty, though the e-liquid your customers buy for their device does, whether or not it contains nicotine.
